29 Years Late

The problem isn't that the world changed. The problem is continuing to sell as if it hadn't. I'll tell you a true story.

The problem isn't that the world changed.

The problem is continuing to sell as if it hadn't.

I'll tell you a true story.

In 1944, Hiroo Onoda, a Japanese army intelligence officer, received an order.

Do not surrender.

Keep fighting until new instructions arrived.

And he obeyed.

He went into the Philippine jungle.

He learned to hide.

To survive.

To distrust everything.

After a while, leaflets started falling from the sky.

Letters.

Notices saying the war had ended.

But Hiroo didn't believe them.

He thought it was an enemy trap.

So he continued.

Doing what he was taught.

What he knew.

What used to work.

Over and over.

For 30 years.

Until one day his old commander came to find him to tell him something brutal:

The war had ended.

29 years earlier.

And then he came out.

He came out alive.

But he came out old.

Into a world that had moved on without him.

He kept doing what used to work.

Even though everything around him had already changed.

And that happens every day in business.

Entire companies are exhausted because "people no longer respond the same way,"

but they keep doing the same thing to sell. There they are.

  • Calling clients who don't want to see them.
  • Opening every day hoping that "today, people will show up."
  • And believing that having a good product, good price, and good service still makes them different.

And today, that's not enough.

That no longer makes you special.

That barely gives you permission to compete.

Think about it:

What past techniques do you keep using even though they no longer work for you?

Reply to this email with the word Hiroo and I'll send you a guide to detect what's holding you back from growing without so much wear and tear.
