A Joke, A Reality, and Two Tips for More Sales and Better Service

Training sucks. It doesn't deliver results. Yes, you read that right. At least 70% of people who receive it apply nothing a year later.

Training sucks. It doesn't deliver results.

Yes, you read that right.

At least 70% of people who receive it apply nothing a year later.

It's not an exaggeration. It's real. (Studies prove it)

The good news is there is a way to improve this.

I'll tell you in a minute. But first, a joke:

A man went to buy shoes.

He tried on a pair he liked, but they pinched badly.

  • "Excuse me, young man. I think these shoes are too small."
  • "Pull out the tongue properly," the salesman said.
  • "Well, even if I pull out the tongue, they still pinch."

Ha-ha.

It's silly.

But it's perfect.

Because there's today's lesson:

People don't follow instructions.

Not with their tongue.

And not when they're serving your customers.

And that means results don't improve.

See if this sounds familiar:

1. You trained your employees (in customer service, in sales, whatever).

2. Excited, you sat back and waited for changes.

3. And 3 weeks later you realized everything was still the same. That no one applied what they learned.

Has that happened to you?

Well, the reality is this:

If your team isn't doing what you expect, it's not their fault.

It's yours.

Because you made a very common mistake:

You relied too much on people.

And people are inconsistent.

We get distracted.

We forget.

One day we do things well, and the next we don't.

Trusting that someone will apply something just because "you already taught them" is a dangerous gamble.

That's where training dies.

Not for lack of knowledge.

"So, how do I fix it, Carlos?"

The solution isn't to train less.

It's to stop relying so much on people.

How?

By creating a P.P.S. system.

People-Proof System.

A P.P.S. system is your team's "Game Mode."

It includes many things: simple instructions, support tools, reinforcement rituals.

When you have it, execution stops being a miracle.

And becomes a consequence.

If you want to know how to create such a system for your team and stop getting frustrated because they do what you expect, reply "tongue" and I'll send you a 29-minute conference where I explain how to do it in three steps.

I hope it helps you.

Sincerely,

Carlos
