This message is for those tired of begging to sell.
Have you seen Wonka?
It's about a poor, orphaned boy obsessed with chocolate.
Don't worry, I won't spoil it.
Willy creates the most extraordinary chocolates the world has ever known.
With little money, he goes to a big city to sell his creations.
There, he meets the three great chocolatiers.
They control the market.
They offer classic, generic, boring chocolates.
The same old stuff.
They are the city's chocolate kings.
But all that is about to change.
Thanks to Willy Wonka.
Because he offers more than just "quality chocolates at a fair price."
His chocolates have special features:
- They make you sing.
- They boost your self-esteem.
- They make your hair grow. Literally.
But it wasn't just the chocolates that were powerful.
Willy had much more surrounding his products.
Songs to present them.
And an extraordinary shop.
How extraordinary?
It has edible flowers.
You can get your change in chocolates instead of coins.
There's a chocolate river inside.
That extraordinary.
The result?
The three chocolate kings want to kill him.
Because he's taking their customers.
Willy understood that:
If you look like everyone else, you sell like everyone else,
but if you do something memorable, selling is much easier.
And that lesson applies to you, too.
If you make your customer's experience with you memorable, selling becomes much easier.
What's the problem?
Many of us are more like the chocolate kings.
- We cling to what worked in the past.
- We want the customer to buy from us because of our "good cost-benefit ratio."
- We trust that our product "speaks for itself."
- And we are slow to change, but quick to criticize those doing things differently.
Now, ask yourself:
Is buying from you memorable?
If your answer is "not really," don't worry.
It can be solved.
